Pelvic Health Physiotherapy: Reclaiming your Foundation
Bring Balance and Function Back to Your Life.

Think of your core as a finely tuned canister. The diaphragm is the lid at the top, the deep abdominal wall wraps around the sides, and the pelvic floor is the literal foundation supporting it all from beneath.
For generations, women have been conditioned to accept pelvic dysfunction as an inevitable tax of adulthood, aging, or motherhood. We are told that leaking when we laugh is just "part of the package," that pelvic pain is something to quietly endure, or that a few generic, isolated Kegels will solve everything.
But common does not mean normal. And your body is not a design flaw.
The pelvic floor is more than just a shelf of skeletal muscles; it is an emotional barometer. It tightens when we are anxious, braces when we are in pain, and carries the physical imprint of major life transitions—from pregnancy and birth to menopause and post-operative recovery. When these deep muscles lose their ability to dynamically contract or fully relax, it disrupts your fundamental stability, comfort, and confidence.
We understand that seeking care for pelvic health can sometimes feel a little intimidating. Because these concerns are personal, our absolute first priority is your comfort. We offer a calm, unhurried space where you can share your story at your own pace, ask questions openly, and feel completely supported as we work together toward your goals.
At Physioveda, we intentionally step away from the patient-churn model. We provide a quiet, trauma-informed clinical space in Ottawa where your entire session is spent entirely one-on-one with your dedicated physiotherapist. No hand-offs, no crowded multi-bed rooms, and no split focus. Just steady, compassionate care, continuous clinical care, and the time required to truly listen to your story and rebuild your trust in your own body.

Frequently asked questions
What exactly happens during a pelvic floor assessment?
Your first session begins with a detailed conversation about your symptoms, medical history, and goals in a private, comfortable room. Following this, we perform an external assessment of your posture, breathing, and core mechanics. With your full, ongoing consent, we may also perform an internal assessment (vaginal or rectal) to accurately evaluate the strength, tone, and coordination of your pelvic floor muscles.
Can I still come to my appointment if I have my period?
Absolutely. It is completely safe and normal to have pelvic floor treatment while menstruating. However, your comfort is our top priority. If you prefer to focus on external treatments, core exercises, or education during that week, we can easily adapt your session.
Does pelvic floor physiotherapy hurt?
Treatment should never be painful. If you are dealing with pelvic pain conditions, some techniques may cause mild, temporary discomfort as we work on tight tissues, but everything is done strictly within your tolerance and with continuous communication.
When should I start pelvic floor therapy during pregnancy or postpartum?
You can begin pelvic floor physiotherapy at any point during your pregnancy to manage pain, prepare for birth, or maintain core function. For postpartum recovery, we generally recommend booking your initial assessment around the 6-week mark after delivery (whether vaginal or cesarean), once you have been cleared by your doctor or midwife.
